On 1st September 2010, the "Bio Methane Symposium" brought together stakeholders from the energy field, ranging from energy plant operators, academic researchers to EU officials and inspection and certification organisations. The guest speakers discussed the future role of bio methane in the energy supply of Europe from various angles. Among the speakers were Dr William Gillett, Head of Unit Renewable Energy at the Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (European Commission), Dr Stephan Kabasci (Fraunhofer Institute), Felix Hess (CEO of NAWARO), Dr Kyriakos Maniatis (administrator in the DG for Energy at the European Commission), Dr Ortrun Janson-Mundel (TÜV NORD CERT) and Volker Klosowski (Board Member of TÜV NORD AG). The panel discussion was moderated by Holger Hoffmann (TÜV NORD).
The issue of renewable energies will also be tabled during the forthcoming CEOC Energy Committee meeting on 07 October in Brussels.
