On 07 October the newly created CEOC Energy committee held its kick-off meeting at the CEOC premises in Brussels. Under the chairmanship of Simon Emeny, Lloyd's Register, the more than 20 participants discussed energy-related issues of relevance for the inspection and certification sector.
During this first meeting, a special focus was given to energy efficiency in buildings, with two invited guest speakers briefing the CEOC experts about this particular issue from different angles. Ms Michaela Holl, responsible for the Energy Efficiency of Buildings Directive in the European Commission Directorate General for Energy, presented an overview of the achievements made already and the work still lying ahead with respect to energy-friendly buildings. In the afternoon, Dr Tudor Constantinescu, Executive Director of the Buildings Performance Institute Europe informed the participants about the work of the institute and possible partnership for future studies related to energy efficiency in buildings.
The CEOC Energy Committee will meet again on 15 March 2011 (tbc) in Brussels. Main issues on the agenda are life cycle analysis and carbon footprinting, measure of performance in buildings, as well as energy labelling of products and nuclear power generation.
