CEOC International Central and Eastern European Members’ Meeting 2015

On 15-17 April 2015, CEOC International held the annual meeting of its Central and Eastern European (CEE) members. Kindly hosted by the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Surveillance (SAMTS), the meeting took place in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Delegates from five countries gathered to discuss the latest developments and challenges regarding the national legislation on technical inspection in the CEE countries.


16 April 2015

Stefan Cankov, President of SAMTS, opened the meeting and thanked the participants for the readiness to share their experience in the field of technical inspection. He underlined the importance of this meeting for SAMTS given the ongoing legislative developments in the TIC sector in Bulgaria.

Simo Hassi, President of CEOC International, thanked Stefan Cankov for hosting the meeting. He provided the participants with an analysis of the global economy and the TIC market. He also presented the latest developments in the field of accreditation and standardization; product and industrial safety; and market surveillance.

The meeting continued with presentations given by all participants on the national legislation on technical inspection in their countries.


17 April 2015

Drewin Nieuwenhuis, Secretary General of CEOC International presented the priority areas of focus for 2015. He also provided the participants with an update on the recent EU legislative developments in the areas of Consumer Product Safety and Market Surveillance Package, TTIP, Medical Devices Directives and EU Energy Policy.

Three Bulgarian NBs, with activities also outside Bulgaria – Center for Testing and European Certification Ltd., Multitest Ltd. and Controltest Ltd., gave detailed presentations of their activities.

The meeting took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere. It was described as very beneficial for all participants. It was thus decided to continue organising annually a meeting of the CEOC International members from Central and Eastern Europe where they can share best practices and experience on topics of interest to them. The Polish delegates suggested that they would host the next year’s meeting.
